Nici @ Square Pear
I am sure if you are a regular reader you will know by now that I am not a huge fan of social media. Mainly because I am what you might call a techno-phobe. I operate best with pen and paper and while I can “oooh” and “aaaaah” over a fridge that can order your food shopping, I generally prefer things to be done in the real world -back to my pen and paper preference.
But techno-inadequacy aside, what I do love about social media is the people I have ‘met’ and the different things I have found out about.
This leads me to Nici.
Here she is. Isn’t she such a gorgeous, glamour Mum?
What is special about Nici’s story is that she has managed to diversify and extend her skills and opportunities. In addition to her studies she has decided to create a clothing business for kids. I think this shows that when studying, we shouldn’t narrow our thinking because we are so focused on the end goal.
To be a nurse.
To be a teacher.
To be an academic.
We can sometimes forget that we can actually ‘do’ other stuff that also brings us joy and an opportunity for creativity. And an income. This is what Nici has achieved in creating her clothing line.
While doing her PhD, Nici had two children and was surprised by the lack of fresh and funky clothing for them (especially for boys) that didn’t cost an arm and a leg…So she began creating her own mini fashions.
Since graduating has launched her own range of clothing for special little people. She makes pants in original fabrics and tops with her own unique designs (as well as other items). Her focus is on fashionable, easy to style, kid-friendly pieces at parent-friendly prices. Her label is called
Pretty cool, huh?
Here are some of her designs.
Don’t you just want to squish those little cheeks!
You can check out her designs and order from her shop squarepear.ecwid.com or from page on Facebook – Square Pear Kids
So let’s get behind our fellow mums and support their businesses.
