The Third Door - GENIUS!
Ever stumble across something brilliant? It doesn’t happen often. Well, it happened to me yesterday after reading Ellen’s story in Meet a Mum!
Ellen talked about how she worked at a nursery-work hub. This is a place where your children can be cared for in the nursery (like our daycare centres) while parents work in the work-hub. The work hub offers all the amenities and services of a regular work place for those who don’t have and/or necessarily want the expense and commitment of a traditional workplace/office. Think meeting rooms, office equipment, IT…
A question that often comes up for Mums who Study is
Where and when can I do some work‘?
I have written about this and I know many mums talk about fitting in little bursts of productivity in all sorts of places. Places like in the car while waiting for school to finish, at the side of the pool during their kids’ swimming lessons or even just quickly during an episode (or two or three or four or…) of Peppa Pig.
So, I started looking into it. Ellen mentioned The Third Door.
Revolutionising the way family and work grow together
The business started when one of the founders, Shazia Mustafa, was trying to work with a young baby and wanted somewhere that she could work in peace, but still be close-by to her child. It was her ‘eureka‘ moment and The Third Door was born.
Why, oh why, oh why, can’t these be everywhere?
Come on some enterprising, innovative Australian. Build it and we will come!
I recommend you check out The Third Door website. I especially love this line…
Parents should be able to be ambitious in their career and still be there for their children.
I think that says it all.
